CarFest South, the motoring festival organised by Chris Evans and Jody Scheckter, proved to be one of the automotive events of the year.
Despite heavy showers on the Saturday, day visitors and campers staying for the whole weekend enjoyed the cars on display, food and arena and aerial displays throughout the two days.
And considering it was put together in just two months, last weekend’s sell-out CarFest South at Scheckter’s Laverstoke Farm near Basingstoke, will go down as one of the most successful family events of the year.
Afzal Kahn taking his Bugatti – complete with the F1 number plate up the Hill Climb, was one of many highlights of the event.
The principal British designer and his team were in their element as fans flocked to the Kahn tent to view the Kahn Evoque, Jeep and Range Rovers.
“The atmosphere was been terrific,” said Afzal Kahn, adding that it was the first time he’d driven a race car across a farm.
“This has been a fantastic event, it’s not really a hard-core motoring enthusiast crowd, but it’s relaxed and fun, and we are looking forward to Car Fest North.
So one down, one to go. They’re doing the same thing all over again in three weeks at Cholmondeley near Chester. Tickets for CarFest North on September 8/9 had sold out, but more have just been released. And if you aren’t sure of the arrangements or how to pronounce Cholmondeley, give the team at Kahn a call.
