This suitably seductive Aston Martin Vanquish is a car with vivid performance, tremendous character and an aura of nonchalance that enlightens you from the moment you touch the red start button.
Its charisma and aura of exclusivity cements its place as one of the great Aston Martins. This is one of the last extensively hand-built Aston Martin’s to come from the old Newport Pagnell works, which to purists makes the Vanquish the last of the real Aston Martins.
The Vanquish was the first of the new-era Aston Martins that was launched under the stewardship of Dr Ulrich Bez.
Furthermore, the introduction of the automated six-speed auto gearbox replaced the clutch pedal and introduced paddles for the first time on an Aston Martin, disbanding the particularly heavyweight manual gearshifts or previous flagship models.
In addition, there was the introduction of the 460bhp 5.9-litre V12 engine - a Cosworth- led evolution of the engine that had first seen service in the DB7 Vantage.
This landmark engine endowed the Vanquish with amazing performance – 0-60 in under 5 sec, amassing a top speed of 190mph and a rousing soundtrack to match – whilst the beautiful suspension gives the Vanquish a lightning light demeanour.
Inside, a number of luxurious amenities adorn the interior. These consist of black leather seats, paddle shift, electronic traction control, air conditioning, heated rear windscreens, alarm and immobiliser and remote central locking.
This was (and remains) a car of strong character, great style and effortless performance, with a unique place in history as the last of the artisan Astons – and prices seem set to continue rising. Fancy a Vanquish? Better act quick.
